Info on the T-Mobile G1 with Google

September 30, 2008

The first phone to run on Android (Google’s Mobile Operating System) was released to the public on September 23rd, 2008. T-Mobile is currently the only carrier to offer an Android phone. There has been speculation that other carriers are working on their own Android capable phones to be released sometime in 2009.

The G1’s most popular features include:
Touch screen
Real web browsing
3MP Camera
Customizable drag and drop home screen
Full keyboard
Easy access to Google apps (Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk)
IM / Text / Email
Music player
3G and Wifi network access

The biggest advantage of Android is the fact that it is open to developers. Anyone can write applications for the operating system and can provide them to Android users. This gives the G1 unlimited potential for the future. All applications will be accessible directly from the phone and can be downloaded with just a few clicks.
